There are 26 bones and many more joints in your foot, all of which can become arthritic and cause pain. Usually arthritis in the foot is caused by abnormal joint alignment or function which can wear out the protective cartilage surfaces. Treatments include weight loss, rest, anti-inflammatories, orthotics, activity change and in severe cases surgery to realign or fuse the affected joint.
